The Confessions of Johnny Appleseed

Coming
Soon

The Confessions of Johnny Appleseed is the as-yet-unpublished memoir from critically acclaimed author Dan McCall.

The story chronicles his early years as an entertaining child prodigy, at once basking in the adoration of adults yet confused by his feelings of alienation.  As the teenage Dan rockets to success as a multiple-National Champion of speech contests and an appearance on the (rigged) TV quiz show Strike  It Rich, the narrator must come to terms  with the narcotic of public adulation -- and the alluring self-deceptions  told by himself, his family and 1950s America.  As a young man at Stanford, he is exhilarated and disturbed by his first experiences with alcohol and sex -- and also finds himself irresistibly drawn to works of great literature.  Finally, the memoir reaches its climax with our former All-American-Champ in existential crisis, alone in the despair of Calcutta, facing the demons which have compelled him to be a writer.
