Below, screenshots of two pages (52-53) excerpted from the “Triphammer Falls” screenplay by Steve Tesich. 

 

This scene features two characters: Sydney, a young film studies professor still recovering from injuries sustained in a domestic violence incident with her ex-boyfriend; and Harris (Ttriphammer), the middle-aged police officer who responded to Sydeny’s initial distress call.  Triphammer had checked in on Sydeney during her recovery in the hospital, and Sydney has asked him to meet her at a coffee house.  The excerpt below shows the two characters preparing to meet for their first date.
